Annual Club Awards 2023
Our coaches have carefully selected club gymnasts whom have excelled this year.
We are very excited to see them presented with trophies awarded under the following headings:

‘Little Mr Sunshine’: Tomi Childes
Our little Mr sunshine this year is given to this gymnast due to him trying his hardest every session! He works super hard on all equipment and is always willing to try new things. Without fail, his happy nature brings a smile to all coaches and gymnasts faces each week. He really deserves this award.
‘Little Miss Sunshine’: Nansi Doyle
Our Little miss sunshine award this year goes to this gymnast because of their happy smiley personality. Always turning up to her session ready to learn, play games and do gymnastics. She is always friendly and chatty with all the gymnasts in her session. She is a ray of sunshine and an absolute pleasure to have at the gym.
Most Dedicated Gymnast: Ella Griffith
The winner of the most dedicated gymnast award this year goes to this gymnast due to how hard she works every session. We always see her trying her best, working on her skills over and over to perfect them. She always listens closely to feedback given by the coaches, is always smiling and happy with her all her friends at the club. She is a real delight to teach and should be proud of the wonderful year she has had with the club.
Best Newcomer: Olivia Redmond
Having been at Dreigiau’r Dyffryn for just 6 months, she has been learning skills on the bar, beam, fasttrack and vault extremely quickly. All her coaches have applauded her talent, tidiness, confidence and enthusiasm. This gymnast has natural skill and ability, and does her very best every week. Massive well done.
Female Gymnast of the Year: Megan Owen
Our female gymnasts of the year this year goes to a gymnast who ALL coaches wanted this award given to. Starting at Dreigiau’r Dyffryn in October 2021 attending a one-hour recreational session, this gymnast is now in the squad, training 4 nights a week. She rarely misses a session, she always has a smile on her face and makes the coaches laugh and smile when she tells them about her day at school.
She has had a fantastic year, showing incredible improvement on all equipment, developing new skills and achieving so much in competitions. She is not only an exceptional gymnast but a hard worker, a kind individual who is always happy to be here.
Stand Out Gymnast: Greta Evans-Hughes
This gymnast fully deserves our stand out gymnast of the year award due to her increasing in her gymnastics skills, confidence, and approach. Always working her hardest in her sessions, and without fail, every week a coach will make a comment on how amazing she is or about all the new skills she has learnt during the session. She radiates positivity, has a great sense of fun & is a valued member of our Mini Dragons squad.
Most Improved Gymnast: Mali Thomas
Starting just over a year ago at Dreigiau’r Dyffryn, this gymnast has gone from to strength to strength. From beginning with just a one hour weekly session, to now training 4 hours a week with the club, she has gone from strength to strength, mastering skills on the bar, beam, floor and vault. Not only has this gymnast’s skills improved so much, always with a smile, she is kind, happy and friendly to everyone in her sessions.
Male Gymnast of the year: Dei Thomas
Our male gymnast of the year, this year goes to an individual who is energetic & enthusiastic about his sessions. Improving week after week, his gymnastics skills are becoming better and better. Now performing front somersaults and more.
He’s confident and chatty with both coaches and gymnast, always smiling throughout his sessions, he is super friendly to everyone at the club. Nobody deserves the male gymnast of the year award more than Dei Thomas.
The Triple A - Amazing Attitude Award: Olivia Cowell
This gymnast always comes to her session smiling away and super happy. She always tries her best even when skills become tricky and is over the moon when she completes a new skill. She is always friendly and to all the other member in the club. She’s a little comedian and a real delight to have in the club.
The Triple A - Amazing Attitude Award: Iolo Parry
This gymnast always comes to his session super excited to learn and enjoy his evening. He is a friendly gymnast, always having fun and chatting with the boys in his group when at the club. Always up for trying new skills, you’ll catch him with a smile on his face. His approach and attitude are positive and an example to all.
Last to Leave: Nel Burgess
This gymnast is one of the most hardest working individuals at the club, always working on her skills every week to improve, especially in her tumbling sessions.
Each week, we have to throw her out as she wants to stay behind to show her mam her latest skills. She’s a polite and compassionate individual. Not only does she try her best, she’s a joy to teach and an asset to the club.
Volunteer of the Year: Alaw Haf Jones
This individual is a fabulous gymnast, whose routines are a delight to watch. She’s a very talented, kind-hearted individual. She has been volunteer coaching for the past few months before her own sessions at the gym. Her confidence has grown hugely these past few months, she’ll make a fantastic coach.
Team Spirit: Beca Maldwyn
This gymnast is always the first person to support and encourage her fellow gymnasts. Always trying her best to make others feel happy and involved when at the gym. She’s not only a positive team player she is thoughtful, caring, and polite and is always up for a laugh!
She will not only motivate others at the gym but is the first to congratulate other gymnasts when at competitions, no matter how well she or her team mates have done.
